Mahesh Babu is an Indian actor, producer and media personality. He was born on 9 August 1975 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He is the son of Telugu actor Krishna and Indira. His original name is Mahesh Ghattamaneni. He was educated at St. Bede’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai where actor Karthi was his schoolmate. Mahesh used to play roles as child actor in the films Shankharavam (1987), Bazaar Rowdy (1988), Mugguru Kodukulu (1988) and Gudachari 117 (1989). He made his debut as a lead actor with the film Raja Kumarudu directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and co-starring Priety Zinta. It saw success. For this film he got Nandi award for best male debut. He acted in the films Raja kularudu, Murari, Takkari Donga, Arjun, Nijam, Athadu, Dookudu, Athadu, and Pokiri. All of his film do not see the success. Some of his flop films are Sainikudu, Naani, and Aagadu etc.

He won the best Telugu actor award at the 59th Filmfare Awards South and 1st South Indian International Movie Awards ceremonies. Mahesh had two releases in 2014, the first one being Sukumar’s 1: Nenokkadine. Mahesh is also a producer. He owns the production house G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. He got married to the actress Namrata Shirodkar. He has two children Sitara and Gautam Krishna.
